Namibia
Namibia is one of the least populated countries in the world and the wide-open spaces offer incredible peace and tranquility. Namibia is full of haunting beauty, stark contrasts and fascinating trees and plants. The country is home to the world-renowned Namib Desert, whose towering sand dunes are amongst the highest in the world. There is a strong influence from German colonial times, with traditional delicatessens, restaurants and German culture, blending with the traditional African cultures of Namibia.
Namibia was the world’s first country in the world to include protection of the environment and sustainable utilization of wildlife in its constitution. The largest concentration of game is in Etosha National Park, famed for its salt pans and desert elephants. The Sossusvlei is legendary for its mystical red sand dunes. Other popular spots include the Skeleton coast, a notoriously fearsome coastline scattered with shipwrecks, and the quaint town on Swakopmund.
