Mozambique
Mozambique is famous for its turquoise ocean, gorgeous white beaches, frivolous palm trees and delicious seafood. With more than 2000km of coastline, Mozambique is the perfect destination for a romantic beach escape. There are amazing diving and snorkeling spots. The Mozambican people are friendly and gentle, and the capital city of Maputo is vibrant and upbeat, with Portuguese, Arabic, Brazilian and Indian cultural influences. The city is famed for its cuisine and offers many bistros, tavernas, restaurants and cocktail bars.
Mozambique’s southern coast is the most developed part of the country with good roads, amazing hotels and incredible scenery. The southernmost area of Ponta do Ouro offers postcard perfect beaches and sand dunes. A bit further north around Xai Xai is the lake district of Mozambique, boasting glorious lakes, river mouths and shallow lagoons. And north of that is the ancient city of Inhambane, a springboard to the coastal resorts of Barra and Tofo, famed for their endless beaches, sand dunes, wetlands and mangrove swamps.
