Few cities in the world can boast a more spectacular setting than Cape Town. Also known as ‘the Mother City,’ Cape Town is a vibrant, colourful city, surrounded by the crystal-clear Atlantic Ocean and framed by a natural skyline of the iconic Table Mountain. When travelling to South Africa you simply can’t miss visiting this beautiful place. Let us tell you about our personal pick of five star hotels in Cape Town.
5 Star Hotel Cape Town
1. Cape Grace – Cape Town South Africa
It´s the Grand Dame amongst top hotels in Cape Town and it really lives up to its name. The Cape Grace blends timeless elegance and luxury with a modern aesthetic. We love the fact that the hotel is in a prime location, yet it feels miles away from the city. Situated on a quiet quay in the V&A Waterfront, the hotel has one of the best views of Table Mountain. Sipping a cup of coffee on your private balcony, watching frolicking seals, is one of the best starts of the day. You only must cross one bridge to find yourself in the vibrant Waterfront with many boutiques and great restaurants. We found that the service in this top hotel was impeccable, and we loved all the different options for eating and drinking. When we were there, we tried the High Tea, which was absolutely delicious. After a full day of sightseeing the Bascule Bar is the place to be, with an exceptional wine list, signature cocktails and an impressive whiskey offering. Top your day off with dinner at Heirloom restaurant, where classical haute cuisine blends perfectly with culinary traditions.
2. Camissa House – Luxury Hotel Cape Town
This luxury boutique hotel offers a distinct experience in the city, as it has only eight rooms. Tucked away in the leafy suburb of Oranjezicht Camissa House is perfectly located, with Table Mountain literally as its back garden and the city at its feet. The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere and really feels like home away from home. We love the fact that you can ask the in-house butler for any needs, and at the same time you can help yourself in the kitchen to a coffee or left overs from lunch. The pool deck is the best place to be to relax and enjoy the splendid views of the city. One of our favourite things was to step out the front door and explore the beautiful mountain. Following the trail next to the house is perfect for a morning walk or trail run. Going out for dinner in the evenings couldn´t be easier when making use of the hotel’s complimentary car service that takes you anywhere within a 10km radius.
3. Tintswalo Atlantic – Top Hotel in Cape Town
Tintswalo Atlantic is Cape Town’s most hidden ocean escape and its best kept secret. You could easily drive past it, too busy taking in the breathtaking views of one of most scenic drives in the country: Chapman’s Peak. The hotel is situated right at the bottom of the cliffs and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and the fishermen’s town of Hout Bay. The fun starts as you are skilfully chauffeured down the private access road, indicating the hotel’s exclusivity. Once down you will be mesmerized by the unobstructed ocean and mountain views from the vast wooden deck and dining room. The individually decorated rooms are extremely comfortable and feel very private. We find that the best thing to do at this exclusive seaside hotel is to stay put and let your senses be spoiled; soak in the views, listen to the sound of the waves rolling in and breath in the salty sea air. Make sure to have dinner at the in-house restaurant, which is renowned Chefs Warehouse Atlantic. It was one of the highlights during our visit. The dining experience is outstanding with the freshest and mostly locally sourced ingredients.
